In a recent effort to connect with the community, police carried out a cordon and search operation early Friday morning. More than 300 homes were inspected. 28 African nationals were taken to the police station to verify their passports.
The police aimed to interact with residents, address their concerns, and tackle social problems. They focused on reducing drug use, public drinking, and other illegal activities.
The operation took place in Paramount Colony within the Tolichowki Police Station area, from 5 am to 8 am. It was led by Hyderabad Commissioner of Police CV Anand as part of a community safety initiative.
About 250 police officers, including DCPs, ACPs, and inspectors, participated. They also confiscated 28 motorcycles, 2 cars, and an auto for lacking documents. Additionally, they found illegally stored domestic gas cylinders.
The 28 African nationals lacked valid papers, with 16 staying illegally on expired visas. Legal steps will be taken against those with invalid or expired passports. The DCP mentioned that foreigner details will be sent to the Ministry of External Affairs for further action.
Another operation occurred Thursday night at CC Nagar, Bansilalpet, within Gandhi Nagar police station limits. Around 250 houses were checked by 200 police members, including B Anand, Addl. DCP, Central Zone, and A Yadagiri, ACP Gandhi Nagar division.
In this operation, police seized 32 beer bottles from an illegal shop, 150 Gutka packets, 80 bikes, a car, and an auto rickshaw. They also investigated 3 rowdies and 8 suspects.
