A political controversy has erupted in Telangana after police conducted a raid at a family gathering that involved relatives of Telangana Minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR). The incident happened in Janwada and has sparked outrage among BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi) leaders, who are calling it an “attack on democracy.” They accused the Congress-led state government of using the raid as part of a political vendetta.

According to reports, police and excise officials raided the residence of KTR’s relatives late on Saturday night. The raid was reportedly in response to allegations of an unauthorized gathering. However, BRS leaders claim that the raid was intended to intimidate and harass family members, including women, children, and the elderly. They also accused the authorities of photographing and recording videos of the family, which has caused widespread anger.

Allegations of Political Motivation

BRS leaders argue that the Congress government is using this raid as a tactic to damage KTR’s reputation because they cannot defeat him politically. They claim this incident is part of a larger pattern of politically motivated actions aimed at defaming both KTR and the BRS party. During the raid, police reportedly used sniffer dogs and conducted extensive searches, leaving elderly family members and children distressed.

Social Media Amplifies the Incident

After the raid, social media accounts linked to Congress allegedly spread rumors that the gathering was a “rave party” involving drugs. BRS representatives have denied these claims, calling them baseless and part of a smear campaign by Congress allies. They also accused the Chief Minister’s Office of directly overseeing the raid and influencing the media narrative.

Excise Department Report: No Drugs Found

The excise department’s investigation revealed that the alcohol found at the gathering was purchased legally, including some duty-free liquor, with receipts to prove it. Although one person tested positive for drug use, BRS supporters emphasized that this individual’s actions were unrelated to the family event. No illegal substances were found on the premises.

Call for Constitutional Accountability

BRS leaders have condemned the raid as a violation of constitutional rights and have called the actions politically driven and unjustified. They are demanding an apology from the government and urging a fair investigation to protect democratic principles.
