BJP Leaders Concerned Over Harmful Effects of Conocarpus Trees in Jogulamba Gadwal

BJP leaders in Jogulamba Gadwal district have raised serious concerns about the negative impact of Conocarpus trees on both the environment and human health. These trees, which have spread throughout the district, are causing alarm among the local population.

During a campaign to remove these trees, BJP district president S. Ramachandra Reddy highlighted how Conocarpus trees have proliferated across Aiza municipality and nearby areas. He pointed out that these trees, introduced by the previous government in many villages, are linked to respiratory illnesses and allergies, affecting the health of residents.

Conocarpus trees are also known to disrupt the environment. Reports suggest that these trees deter birds and contribute to air pollution. Because of these issues, many local residents are demanding that the trees be removed and replaced with native plants that are safer for the environment.

The Telangana Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department Commissioner recently issued orders to district officials, advising them not to plant Conocarpus trees and to remove the ones already planted. The Gadwal District Collector has also instructed officials to take action, but so far, there has been little progress on the ground.

In response, S. Ramachandra Reddy warned that if authorities do not act soon, BJP workers will begin removing the trees themselves across the district.

Several other BJP leaders, including Aiza town general secretary Kompati Bhagat Reddy, district OBC general secretary Venkatesh Yadav, and Aiza town vice president Lakshman Goud, also participated in the campaign to remove the trees.
