Hyderabad: Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has urged Revenue officials to carry out their duties with compassion and warned them against registering lands belonging to the poor in favor of wealthy landowners. He emphasized that serious action would be taken against any officers involved in such practices.
Reddy made these remarks during a session with officials from the stamps and registration department at the MCR-HRD Institute. He encouraged the employees to work with honesty and dedication to achieve the goals of ‘Indiramma Rajyam,’ a government initiative aimed at benefitting the poor.
The minister stressed that government lands should be protected from encroachments and should be distributed to those in need. He warned that if any government lands were wrongly registered in the names of powerful landowners, the responsible officials would face strict consequences.
Reddy also urged officials to provide quality service to the public in a transparent manner, ensuring that people who come for land registration do not face any issues. He assured the employees that the government would soon address their budgetary needs, including rent, electricity, and vehicle charges.
On the topic of staff transfers and promotions, Reddy said that there was no need for special recommendations, as he would oversee these matters through regular reviews. He also mentioned a plan to have all registration offices operate from government-owned buildings within the next few years.
The minister instructed officials to study the best practices from registration departments in other states to improve services in Telangana. He highlighted the importance of adopting new technologies to provide seamless service to the public.
During the session, Secretary to the Government and Commissioner of Stamps and Registrations, Jyothi Buddha Prakash, provided an overview of the department’s performance. He noted that the department’s revenue had increased significantly, from Rs 2,746 crore in 2014 to Rs 14,588 crore last year. He also mentioned that the long-pending transfer of employees had been completed smoothly.
The minister also took the opportunity to release the department’s annual report. Senior officials discussed various topics, including revenue mobilization, the functioning of the department, the need for owning office buildings, and budget requirements. The meeting was attended by Additional IG Venkat Rajesh, DIGs, registrars, sub-registrars, and other staff members.
