Hyderabad: From September 17 to October 16, the state government will celebrate a month-long event called ‘Poshan Mahotsav’. During this time, Anganwadi workers will visit homes to share nutrition messages, known as ‘Poshan Sandesh’.
Minister Dhanasari Anasuya (Seethakka) highlighted the event’s focus on improving health and nutrition for women and children, supported by the central government. The initiative aims to ensure every household receives guidance on healthy eating through Anganwadi staff. Seethakka has reached out to state public representatives, urging their involvement.
The Minister encouraged public representatives to support and promote the Poshan Mahotsav in their areas. She emphasized the importance of nutrition as a foundation for family health, aiming to raise awareness in every home.
The state has allocated Rs 30,000 per ICDS project and Rs 50,000 per district for special programs to spread awareness. Officials are instructed to organize nutrition-related events, including health check-ups, from village to state levels with these funds.
Efforts during Poshan Mahotsav will also focus on quality pre-primary education and necessary nutrition. Campaigns will discourage junk food and educate people on sugar, salt, and oil use. Anganwadi workers will help deliver the nutrition message to all households.
The initiative includes engaging men in the Nutrition Mission to spread nutrition awareness. Programs will promote local product consumption and self-reliance, using the slogan “Vocal for Local”. Nutrition data will be collected at the village level with technology, ensuring regular monitoring. Mega health camps will also be organized statewide by the Health and Family Welfare Department during this month.
Minister Seethakka stated, “Building a Nutritional Telangana is everyone’s responsibility. We need to spread this awareness in every village and family.” She aims for cooperation from public representatives to make the festival successful and foster a healthy Telangana.
Daily program details for Poshan Month have been prepared and distributed to districts for uniform implementation. The Minister urged everyone to actively participate, expressing hope that Poshan Mahotsav will significantly contribute to a healthier society.
