Hyderabad is set to become a top spot for weddings, according to Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao. Speaking on Sunday, he encouraged wedding planners to elevate Telangana as a prime wedding destination globally.
The minister addressed the South India Wedding Planners Congress at Akshaya Convention in the Financial District. Organized by the Telangana Chamber of Events Industry (TCEI) and the Tourism Department, the event highlighted Telangana’s readiness to play a significant role in India’s booming wedding industry.
Minister Rao emphasized that Telangana offers diverse venues for weddings, from ancient forts and palaces to lush forests and modern hotels. He urged wedding planners to view Telangana as a vibrant cultural hub and promote it both nationally and internationally.
He invited couples to create lasting memories by choosing unique tourist spots in Telangana for their weddings. Plans are underway to showcase these destinations, with FAM (Familiarization) tours introducing industry professionals to the state’s offerings. Quick approvals for licenses and logistics, along with new policies encouraging private-public investments, are in progress under the motto, “You think, we will implement.”
Minister Rao challenged the event organizers to expand their reach, suggesting a name change from “South Indian Wedding Planners Congress” to “Indian Wedding Planners Congress.” This would incorporate diverse cultures from across India, including Rajasthan, Punjab, Kashmir, and Goa.
The event featured participation from prominent figures such as Tourism Department Special CS Jayesh Ranjan, TCEI President Alla Balaram Babu, and General Secretary Ravi Bura.
