The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation has launched a new pass for people who travel short distances within Greater Hyderabad. This ‘General Route Pass’ will be available from May 27 and is valid for travel within 8 km. The pass costs Rs 600 for the City Ordinary Route Bus Pass and Rs 1000 for the Metro Express Route Pass, per month. An additional fee of Rs 50 must be paid for the ID card. The pass can be used on Sundays and holidays.
During the first phase, this pass will be available for 162 routes in Hyderabad. The corporation has an unlimited number of buses within the 8 km radius of these route passes. Passengers can travel on these buses without any limitations.
According to a senior officer at TSRTC, general bus tickets are already available for passengers in Hyderabad. The Ordinary Bus Pass costs Rs 1,150 and the Metro Express Bus Pass is Rs 1,300. These passes can be used to travel from anywhere within the city suburban area.
The corporation conducted a survey which revealed that people who travel short distances are not using the buses because they find alternative routes.
