Hyderabad: The Rachakonda Police Commissioner, G Sudheer Babu, has given strict instructions to ensure safety and peace during the upcoming Ganesh festivities. He held a coordination meeting on Wednesday at the Commissioner’s office in Neredmet with senior officers, including DCPs, Additional DCPs, and ACPs, to discuss the security arrangements.
Commissioner Sudheer Babu emphasized that the Ganesh festival is one of the largest and most widely celebrated festivals across the state. He stressed that maintaining law and order during the celebrations is crucial. He advised that inspectors should meet with the festival organizers in advance to review the arrangements for installing Ganesh idols.
The Commissioner also directed the officials to work closely with other government departments within their areas. He suggested organizing coordination meetings with the officials from GHMC, the Fire Department, the Water Drainage Department, the Medical Department, the Electricity Department, the Transport Department, and other related departments to ensure proper management and security during the Ganesh festivities.
He further advised the police staff to be polite to the devotees who come for the immersion of idols and to remain vigilant to maintain peace and security. The Commissioner stressed the importance of responding promptly to Dial 100 calls and emphasized the need for visible policing. He also reminded the officers to follow the Supreme Court orders that loudspeakers should only be used until 10 PM and suggested explaining to the festival organizers that DJs are not allowed at the Ganesh mandapams.
Additionally, the Commissioner instructed that each Ganesh mandapam should have at least two volunteers present. He ordered the police stations to collect details of the management committees of the Ganesh mandapams and to coordinate with relevant departments to prevent electricity accidents and disruptions.
Sudheer Babu also highlighted the need for preventive measures to avoid any clashes near Vinayaka mandapams. He recommended increasing security in sensitive areas and setting up special pickets where necessary.
He further instructed that proper arrangements should be made for the Ganesh idol immersion, including setting up street lights, floodlights, and cranes at ponds and other water bodies in coordination with GHMC officials. He also suggested constructing tents, electric lights, barricades, and ensuring good water facilities, mobile toilets, and medical facilities at the immersion sites for the convenience of the devotees.
Lastly, the Commissioner stressed the importance of ensuring a 24-hour uninterrupted power supply and completing road repairs and sanitation works ahead of the festivities.
DCPs Padmaja (Malkajgiri), Praveen Kumar (LB Nagar), Rajesh Chandra (Yadadri), Sunitha Reddy (Maheshwaram), SB Karunakar, DCP Crime Arvind Babu, ACP IT Cell Narender Goud, ACP SB Sreedhar Reddy, and other officers attended the meeting.
