Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot spoke at a meeting in Jaipur about how democracy should be strengthened by following the principles of truth and non-violence, rather than religion and caste. He highlighted that this is especially relevant in today’s tense atmosphere in the country. Gehlot explained that truth and non-violence are important for the progress of the country and are also part of its culture.
He also mentioned that Rajasthan was the first state to establish a department of Peace and Non-Violence in 2022, with the aim of spreading the message of Mahatma Gandhi to every household. This includes the creation of a Gandhi Darshan Museum and Mahatma Gandhi Institute, as well as District Peace and Non-Violence Cells.
Gehlot emphasized the important role of Gandhi preraks (motivators) in inspiring people at the grassroots level. He expressed concern that constitutional values are under threat and called upon everyone to come together to protect the Constitution and democracy. He also suggested that every state should establish similar departments.
