N Ramachander Rao started his role as the BJP’s Telangana leader by criticizing the Congress and its recent meeting led by Mallikarjuna Kharge. He paid respects at the Telangana Martyrs Memorial and then moved to the BJP headquarters, where he officially took charge with party leaders present.
Rao told the media that the Congress ignored people’s needs during its 50 years in power. He said people rejected the Congress three times due to its corruption, seeking a “Congress-free India.” In contrast, he claimed the BJP serves the people while the Congress seeks power.
He mocked the Congress, calling it the “All India Cheating Committee,” and said the party faced public opposition soon after gaining power. He predicted voters would send a strong anti-Congress message in the next local elections.
On the Congress’s claim of winning 100 MLA and 15 MP seats, Rao suggested they meant the BJP would achieve this. He expressed confidence that Telangana’s people would support the BJP to fight against Congress’s deceit. He criticized Congress and previous BRS governance for reducing Telangana’s prosperity, but asserted the BJP’s intent to win in local elections and gain power in the state.
Rao stated that the BJP is becoming stronger and will soon rule Telangana. He accused the Congress of mixing secularism and socialism with religious politics, infringing on people’s rights. He praised the Modi government for its commitment to the poor, noting that many BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Modi, come from backward classes.
Rao highlighted BJP’s growing rural support and recent election successes, showing increasing voter support. He accused the Congress of failing the Backward Classes by not ensuring 42% reservation in local elections, calling it a diversion from BJP’s promises. Rao affirmed BJP’s commitment to this reservation plan.
He dismissed claims of a urea shortage, stating the Centre provided 12 lakh metric tonnes of urea to Telangana, more than needed, and blamed Congress for distribution failures. He challenged Congress to discuss the urea supply and questioned unfilled job positions, pointing out that BJP allocated Rs. 12 lakh crore for Telangana’s development and invited debate on this funding.
