Hyderabad: BRS party MLC Satyavati Rathod has accused the police of sexually assaulting women during a violent incident in Lagacharla village, which they claim happened under the guise of investigating attacks by farmers.

Satyavati Rathod, along with the affected women, met the SC/ST Commission on Saturday to file a complaint. The women shared their experiences and described how the police allegedly mistreated them. According to their account, the police came to their homes late at night and abused them, claiming they were targeted because of the farmers’ attacks. They further alleged that they were sexually harassed by the police.

The women urged the SC/ST Commission to take action by filing cases of SC/ST atrocities and rape against the policemen involved in the incident.

Speaking to the media after lodging the complaint, Satyavati Rathod condemned the police’s actions, calling them an example of autocratic rule in Telangana. She accused Revanth Reddy of acting arrogantly towards the tribal people in his constituency to benefit a pharmaceutical company by taking away their lands.

Rathod further criticized Reddy, stating that even the youngest children in Lagacharla were worried about their future due to pollution from the pharma company. She questioned why Reddy was filing non-bailable cases against the farmers after attacking them instead of addressing their concerns.

She also demanded that the cases filed against innocent farmers, accusing them of attacking the Collector, should be withdrawn immediately.

Several BRS leaders, including MLAs Kovalakshmi and Anil Jadhav, along with party leaders Johnson Naik, Roop Singh, and others, were present during the meeting with the SC/ST Commission.
