Hyderabad: Re Sustainability Limited (ReSL), a leader in circular economy solutions in Asia, has introduced two major sustainability initiatives during the festive season. The first is the 18th edition of their acclaimed Green Ganesha campaign (#ReBIGGreenGanesha) in partnership with 92.7 BIG FM. The second is a new app-based waste collection service called Aakri – Powered by Re Sustainability. These initiatives were launched at My Home Bhooja, with active participation from local residents. The goal is to promote environmental responsibility and strengthen the circular economy.

Last year, Hyderabad’s Ganesh festival produced over 6,000 tonnes of waste in Hussain Sagar Lake. Plaster of Paris (POP) idols, with toxic paints, do not dissolve easily, harming aquatic life and oxygen levels. To mitigate this, ReSL and 92.7 BIG FM are leading the “Green Ganesha 2025” campaign. Last year, they distributed over 10,000 eco-friendly clay idols in India. This year, they aim to distribute 15,000. These idols contain seeds and organic fertilizer, allowing them to be immersed at home, preserving water bodies.

Indian actors Tanikella Bharani and Madhu Shalini, supporters of the cause, attended the launch to encourage citizens to celebrate responsibly. The campaign includes a city-wide paper collection drive to recycle paper into eco-friendly Ganesha sculptures. BIG FM RJs will lead interactive events from Aug 19th to Sept 02nd. Meanwhile, Aakri offers a smart, digital solution for waste disposal.

Aakri, backed by ReSL’s 30 years of experience, provides door-to-door pickup of waste like diapers, recyclables, and hazardous materials. Currently in southern India, it serves homes, communities, and institutions. With over 100,000 users, Aakri is changing waste management in Indian households and plans to expand nationwide.

Waste collected by Aakri is handled at ReSL’s advanced facilities, ensuring safe and environmentally compliant processing. Aakri empowers citizens to contribute to cleaner cities and a zero-waste future, combining technology and trusted infrastructure for sustainability.

Mr. Masood Mallick, Managing Director & CEO of Re Sustainability, states, “We aim to make every citizen an environmental custodian. Green Ganesha offers an eco-friendly alternative to protect water bodies. Aakri simplifies responsible waste management for households. Together, small actions can make a big impact.”
