Musharraf Faruqui, the Chairman and Managing Director of Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited, urged organizers and the public to prioritize electrical safety during the Vinayaka Chavithi Festival. He expressed sorrow over recent tragedies where people suffered electric shocks during Ganesh idol processions in Ramantapur and Bandlaguda, as well as at a Ganesh pandal in Amberpet. He clarified that these incidents were not due to negligence by the Electricity Department.

Faruqui visited the accident site in Bandlaguda on Tuesday to gather more details. With the festival approaching on the 27th, he directed electricity officials to ensure the safety of electrical networks along procession routes. Currently, the program to replace dangerous overhead lines with safer AB cables is progressing in Greater Hyderabad. Additionally, under the guidance of the Deputy Chief Minister, efforts are underway to remove hazardous hanging cables.

He emphasized the importance of electrical safety at pandals and urged the public, devotees, and organizers to follow safety guidelines.
