    The death of Constable Harvinder Singh Dhami, also known as Harvey, a police officer with the Strathcona county detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Alberta, Canada, has been mourned by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Alberta Premier Danielle Smith, and other leaders and police departments. Dhami was involved in a traffic mishap while responding to a complaint at around 2am local time. Despite efforts by emergency personnel and civilians, he succumbed to his injuries. The 32-year-old joined the police service in 2019 and is survived by his partner Ravinder, mother, sister, and brother. Deputy Commissioner Curtis Zablocki of the Alberta RCMP praised Dhami as a mature person with a strong sense of responsibility who was hardworking, dependable, and liked by everyone around him. Following Dhami’s death, Smith ordered flags at Alberta’s Legislature and the McDougall Centre to be lowered to half-mast.
