In Wanaparthy, Kono Carpus trees, which scientists believe are harmful to human health, have grown in large numbers on both sides of the road leading to the district offices. These trees are also found near the Talla Cheruvu area. Every day, district officials, including the collector and the Superintendent of Police (SP), along with local residents, travel on this road.
Interestingly, it has been noticed that even birds do not sit on these trees. Despite this, district and local officials seem to have not yet addressed the issue.
Scientists have raised concerns about the high amount of pollen released by the trees. Inhaling this pollen can cause respiratory problems. Additionally, these trees prevent the growth of grass and other plants around them, limiting food sources for other plants and animals. The trees spread quickly because they were planted on a large scale during the previous government’s tenure.
People in the area are asking district officials to take action. They want the harmful Kono Carpus trees to be removed and replaced with plants that are better for public health. Ensuring the safety of both citizens and officials is their top priority.
