Farmers in Jallapuram village, located in Manavapad mandal, held a special ceremony to call upon Varuna, the Rain God, hoping to end the ongoing drought in their area. They wish for rain not only for their village but for all of Telangana.
The ritual included a notable procession of 101 decorated bullocks heading to the Krishna River. This impressive sight captured the attention of nearby communities. Villagers collected 101 pots of sacred water from the river to offer in their local temples.
During the event, people sang devotional songs, asking the Rain God for mercy and rain. Their heartfelt pleas included lines like, “O Rain God, please forgive us and send rain. Our lands are parched, and we look to the sky with hope.”
Back in the village, they used the holy river water for ceremonial washings of the temple idols, a practice known as abhishekams.
A large number of farmers, struggling with failed crops due to the dry conditions, took part in the ceremony. The elders recalled that their ancestors also performed these rituals during difficult times, often resulting in much-needed rain.
