Hyderabad is set to improve traffic enforcement through better data access. The Road Transport Authority (RTA) database will join forces with the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre (TGICCC) system.
This partnership will allow automatic access to key vehicle details like Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate status, insurance, and registration directly in the TGICCC system when making challans.
On Wednesday, a key meeting at TGICCC was led by VB Kamalasan Reddy, its Director, and Surendra Mohan, the Transport Commissioner. They aimed to merge the RTA database with TGICCC.
This real-time data link will simplify enforcement tasks and lower manual checks, ensuring challans are issued with accurate data from the RTA. The Transport Commissioner promised a dedicated team for this automation project.
The meeting also discussed how to better enforce features of the Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS), such as Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), Public Addressing System (PAS), and Variable Message Display Boards (VMBs).
They reviewed the cameras used by TGICCC and their video analytics capabilities.
The session ended with a plan to deploy a technical team to evaluate integrating the RTA system with TGICCC’s setup. They will check system compatibility, data sharing, and technical needs for smooth integration. The meeting included Joint Transport Commissioners Shiva Lingaiah and Chandra Shekhar Goud, along with other RTA officials and tech experts.
