Telangana Transport Department to Offer 40 Services Online

The Telangana State Transport Department is making a big change by moving 40 of its 56 transport-related services online. Currently, 17 services are already available online, and soon, more will be accessible to people across the state. This move aims to make services more convenient for the public.

By the end of the month, citizens will no longer need to visit Regional Transport Authority (RTA) offices for most services. Officials say this shift will make all transport-related services fully online, whereas earlier, only a few were partially available.

Some of the services that will be available online include applying for duplicate learner licenses, renewing licenses, changing addresses on driving licenses, and issuing no-objection certificates (NOCs). Other services like obtaining history sheets for licenses, replacing expired learner licenses, and transferring licenses to other states will also be accessible online.

Officials believe this change will make it easier for people to access services without visiting an office. It will also reduce crowds at RTO offices, allowing them to function more efficiently. The goal is to provide a smooth, contactless experience for vehicle owners and transport department officials.

Previously, renewing an expired driving license required a visit to the RTO office and submission of documents. Many other services also required in-person visits. Now, these tasks can be completed online, saving time and effort for citizens.

Transport unions have welcomed this decision. M. Dayanand, General Secretary of the Telangana Auto and Motor Welfare Union, praised the move. He mentioned that this should have been done earlier to reduce corruption in the transport department. Other states like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala have already implemented similar online services.
