Hyderabad: The long-awaited construction of the Road Under Bridge (RUB) at Level Crossing (LC) Gate-249 is finally starting after getting approval from the Medchal-Malkajgiri Collector.
For many years, the plan for the RUB at Turkapally was stuck in the district collector’s office, waiting for a nod. Now, with the green light given, work has begun. The main road from New Bolaram to Turkapally Village is closed, and travelers are advised to use alternative routes.
The RUB project replaces LC No-249 on the SC-MUE section and is part of a larger initiative involving ten LCs, with a total budget of Rs 49.50 crore. This development aims to enhance the safety of both road and rail users, ensuring smooth traffic flow at the level crossing gates, according to a senior SCR officer.
Murali Krishna, president of the Federation of New Bolarum, mentioned that many Turkapally colonies have been isolated due to LC 249. Motorists often face long waits at the rail gate, which connects National Highway-44 at Kompally and Rajiv Rahadari.
Despite numerous RTI requests and inspections by the railways and state government, the project faced delays waiting for the collector’s approval. The completion of the RUBs will significantly improve traffic flow in the area.
