Gadwal: Former BJP district president S. Ramachandra Reddy has strongly criticized the Congress-led Revanth Reddy government for neglecting important irrigation projects in Jogulamba Gadwal district, especially in the Alampur area.
Speaking at a BJP meeting led by Mandal President Eshwar and Town President Sharath, Reddy raised concerns about the Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme (RDS). He said that if just Rs. 50 crore were spent to develop the water route from the Chinnonipalli Reservoir, water could reach Distributary 24 (D-24). He also mentioned that finishing the Mallamma Kunta Reservoir and linking it with the Joorala canal near Vemula could bring water up to D-40. However, he claimed the Congress government has ignored these important issues, leaving local farmers without much-needed water.
Reddy also criticized the poor state of the Rayalampadu Reservoir. Although it has a capacity of 4 TMC, it is not able to store even 2 TMC of water due to lack of maintenance. He pointed out that work on packages 104, 107, and 99 under the Nettampadu project is still incomplete, even though the region is near major rivers like the Krishna and Tungabhadra. He blamed the current government for falling crop yields and said farmers are suffering because of these failures.
Beyond irrigation, Reddy also discussed problems in the healthcare and education sectors. He said the promised 100-bed hospital at Alampur X Road has not started working yet due to lack of staff. He added that students at the new medical college in Gadwal are struggling because of poor facilities and not enough teachers.
He accused Revanth Reddy’s government of failing in all areas and said this is making life difficult for farmers, students, and the public. He called on BJP members and citizens to raise awareness about these issues and hold the Congress accountable in the upcoming local elections.
Many party leaders attended the meeting, including 2023 BJP candidate Raj Gopal, Alampur town in-charge Sanjeev Reddy, Nageshwar Reddy, Jagadeesh, Naga Mallayya, Rangaswamy, Naresh, Maddileti, Rajasekhar, Dana Reddy, Sudhakar, Lakshman, and Ravi Kumar.
