Gadwal: On Saturday, Sankapuram village in Aija Mandal was filled with devotion and celebration. People gathered for special prayers to honor Lord Vijayaraya during the Sravana Pournami full moon.
The festivities kicked off early with a spiritual parade. Devotees, full of devotion, carried pots of water on their heads from the old Anjaneyaswamy temple to the Vijayaraya temple. Along the way, they sang devotional songs and chanted, creating a powerful spiritual atmosphere. At the temple, they performed a special ritual bath for the deity using the water they brought.
Devotees also cooked sacred food called naivedyam in fresh clay pots. This offering was made with respect to the deity. Afterward, the food was shared with everyone present as prasadam.
A grand parade, or shobha yatra, added to the day’s excitement. A beautifully adorned sacred pot was placed on a bullock cart and paraded through the streets. Music, chants, and decorations accompanied the procession. Villagers lined the route, joining in with joy and devotion.
Sankapuram buzzed with cultural and spiritual energy throughout the day. People of all ages came together to celebrate, and the village remained lively into the evening with devotional songs and a sense of community.
