Hyderabad: On Monday, the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) organized anti-drug awareness events in various schools and colleges to highlight the risks of narcotics and encourage a drug-free lifestyle.
The sessions took place at Veda Degree College in Santosh Nagar, New Era International School in Saidabad, and Holy Mary College of Nursing in Alkapur.
At Veda Degree College, YVS Sudheendra, DCP of Task Force/H-NEW, spoke to students. He warned them about drug abuse’s dangers and its impact on their future. He discussed the legal issues students might face if they engage in drug use or distribution. Sudheendra also talked about how substance abuse can damage relationships, careers, and health. He urged students to avoid drugs and friendships that encourage such habits.
At New Era International School, GS Daniel, Inspector of H-NEW, led the session. He explained how drugs are sometimes disguised as candies to lure students, jeopardizing their futures. He stressed the negative impact on physical and mental health, as well as the potential for decreased intelligence and even death. Daniel advised students to steer clear of drugs and avoid peers who might influence them negatively.
During the event at Holy Mary College of Nursing, B Bala Swamy, another Inspector from H-NEW, addressed the students. He discussed the prevalence of drug abuse in educational settings and how it can lead to addiction, destroying promising futures. He stressed the responsibility of nursing students to educate hospital patients about the severe effects of drug abuse on health and intellect, and the possibility of fatal outcomes.
School and college leaders praised H-NEW for these programs, noting their importance in helping students make informed choices, recognize the dangers of drug use, and lead healthy lives.
