South Central Railway (SCR) recently held a safety review meeting to discuss train operations and developmental works in the region. The focus of the meeting was on ensuring the safety of train operations, especially during the upcoming monsoon season. Precautionary measures will be taken at vulnerable points like rail bridges and RUBs/ROBs.

Arun Kumar Jain, general manager of SCR, emphasized the importance of passenger safety and minimizing inconvenience. The meeting also saw the virtual inauguration of the Smart Water Pumping System at Sheep Mandi. This pump house in Secunderabad supplies water to six locations using manual pumping, which is both labor-intensive and costly.

The new IoT-based Smart Water Pumping System will replace centrifugal pumps with more efficient submersible pumps. It will also enable real-time monitoring of water distribution, reducing water wastage. The system includes remote control of valves, eliminating the need for manual intervention. Officials estimate that the system will save Rs 1.2 crore in water savings, Rs 24 lakh in manpower costs, and Rs 3.6 lakh in energy savings annually.
