Hyderabad:
On November 7, to mark National Cancer Awareness Day, the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC), in collaboration with the Grace Cancer Foundation, introduced a special health screening initiative. This programme is designed specifically for Cyberabad police personnel and their families. It includes a free mega medical and cancer screening camp, held on Thursday, benefiting police officers and their families in the Cyberabad Commissionerate.
The initiative aims to screen 10,000 police officers and their family members. The primary focus is on early detection of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and cancers, particularly breast and cervical cancers. The programme provides easy access to these screenings through a mobile screening bus.
Avinash Mohanty, the Cyberabad Police Commissioner and Chairman of SCSC, highlighted that this camp will allow all police officers across the Cyberabad Commissionerate to receive essential health screenings. He stressed the importance of early detection and timely treatment of cancer to reduce its impact.
He also praised the programme as a key step toward promoting proactive healthcare. Additionally, he shared plans to digitize health records, ensuring that police officers can easily access their health information when needed.
D Joel Davis, Cyberabad Joint Commissioner of Police, Traffic, noted the significance of preventive healthcare. He said that identifying potential health issues early could lead to long-term health benefits, allowing officers to serve the community with strength and resilience.
Ramesh Kaza, the SCSC Secretary General, expressed gratitude for this initiative, saying it is a way to give back to law enforcement officials. He also thanked the Grace Cancer Foundation for their support in making the programme possible.
Dr. Chinnababu Sunkavalli, Global CEO of Grace Cancer Foundation, explained that the police work hard to protect everyone, and this camp is a way to protect the protectors. He also shared that India reports two million cancer cases annually, and globally, there are 10 million cancer-related deaths.
Grace Cancer Foundation, which was founded in 2013, created India’s first covered mobile screening bus. Currently, the foundation operates seven such buses. All the health data collected through these screenings is securely managed using Neopact data systems.
