SEC to Convene All-Party Meeting Today

Hyderabad: The State Election Commission (SEC) is getting ready for local body elections in the state. The SEC has announced that it will release a draft list of voters by September 6. To discuss the upcoming elections, the SEC has also called for an all-party meeting on Saturday.

State Election Commissioner C Parthasarathy recently held a video conference with district collectors, ZP CEOs, and election returning officers. During the meeting, he instructed the officials to complete the preparation of the voters’ list and the mapping of polling booths on time. The goal is to publish the draft voters’ list by September 6.

The ward-wise draft voters’ list will be released by the SEC on September 8, using January 1, 2024, as the qualification date. The final list of voters is expected to be published on September 21. Before finalizing the list, officials will accept applications for any objections and make necessary corrections.

In addition, the SEC has scheduled a meeting with recognized political parties on August 31 at the TSEC office. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the preparation and publication of ward-wise electoral rolls for the Gram Panchayats. Each recognized political party has been asked to send two representatives to participate in the meeting.
