Bhadrachalam: On Saturday morning, the Godavari River at Bhadrachalam surpassed the second flood alert level, reaching 48 feet at 9 AM, according to District Collector Jitesh V. Patil.
Reports indicate the river is releasing about 11,44,645 cusecs of water downstream. Heavy rain upstream has caused this rise in water levels, resulting in ongoing flood conditions in the Bhadrachalam area.
Collector Patil has urged people in low-lying areas to remain vigilant. “We have already started rehabilitation efforts. More relief centers are ready if needed,” he stated. Authorities have ensured supplies like clean water, food, medical care, and electricity are available at all shelters.
Teams from the Revenue, Police, Health, Panchayati Raj, Municipal, and Electricity departments are actively monitoring affected regions. Emergency teams are prepared to assist immediately when required.
The Collector’s public advisory includes these guidelines:
- Avoid entering the Godavari River for any activity, including bathing.
- Boat services are halted until further notice.
- Stay away from flooded bridges, lakes, canals, and streams.
- Avoid taking selfies or videos near fast-flowing or flooded waters.
The district has established control rooms for quick response. In emergencies, residents should contact:
- Sub-Collector Office, Bhadrachalam – 08743-232444
- Flood Control Room – 7981219425
- District Collector’s Office, Paloncha – 08744-241950
- ITDA Office, Bhadrachalam – 7995268352
Collector Patil stressed that the district team is on full alert, working 24×7 for public safety. “We urge everyone to adhere to official advice and move to safer areas if necessary,” he mentioned.
With the flood situation evolving, residents are advised to stay updated via reliable sources and remain calm.
