Heavy rainfall has caused an acute drainage crisis in Anjaiah Nagar, Gachibowli under Serilingampally zone. The drains and manholes have not been desilted for several months, causing sewage to overflow onto roads and into some homes. This has also flooded the resting place area of the graveyard, damaging graves. The situation is causing distress to residents, who are concerned about the health hazards posed by the sewage overflow.

Social activist Mohammed Ahmed has brought attention to this issue on social media, tagging GHMC, Minister K T Rama Rao and Mayor Vijayalakshmi. He has appealed to GHMC to solve the issue as soon as possible, as the resting place is not safe in the city.

Residents have lodged complaints with the civic body and other officials, but their grievances have gone unheard. They are calling for immediate action to desilt the manholes and solve the overflowing issue. The Wakf Board must also step in to save the graveyard, as the dirt water damages the graves and black water pools in burial space.

The residents allege that GHMC workers come and fix the problem temporarily by cleaning the drains, but the drainage lines are very old and need replacement. They are calling for powerful pumps to remove the garbage and silt in the drains so that sewage can make its way into the major drain line.
