The Telangana police have opened six new Bharosa centres in different districts to help women and prevent abuse. These new centres are located in Narayanpet, Kamareddy, Rajanna Sircilla, Jayashankar in Bhupalpally, Komarambheem in Asifabad, and Nirmal. The goal is to expand the reach of these centres across all districts of Telangana.

Under the leadership of Shikha Goel, ADG Women Safety Wing, Telangana State Police, ceremonies were held in Narayanpet, Kamareddy, and Rajanna Sircilla to mark the opening of these new centres. The police are committed to providing comprehensive assistance to survivors of crimes against women and children. Although the centres are currently operating from rented premises, efforts are being made to secure funding for permanent state-of-the-art buildings.

Since May 2016, the Telangana police have increased the number of Bharosa centres from one to 20 across the State. These centres offer various types of support such as medical, legal, and rehabilitation aid. Recently, eight more centres were inaugurated in different districts to further expand services to victims. A new permanent building was also unveiled for the Medak Bharosa Centre to enhance support for victims.

During the opening ceremonies, officials emphasized the importance of a victim-centric approach within the policing and legal systems. The Bharosa Centres have already assisted thousands of cases related to Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) and rape cases, showing their crucial role in delivering justice and rehabilitation.
