Hyderabad: T Jagga Reddy, the working president of the Telangana PCC, addressed the media on Friday, highlighting Sonia Gandhi’s long-standing connection to India as the daughter-in-law for 59 years. He criticized BJP leaders for spreading falsehoods about the Gandhi family, stating they unjustly accuse Indira and Rajiv Gandhi, who gave their lives for the nation. Reddy emphasized the family’s legacy of sacrifice.
He questioned the BJP’s understanding of sacrifice and challenged their leaders to compare themselves to Sonia and Rahul Gandhi. Reddy recalled how Sonia, chosen by the nation to be Prime Minister, appointed Manmohan Singh instead, demonstrating her selflessness. Similarly, when Singh offered the PM position to Rahul, he declined, urging Singh to continue. Reddy asked if BJP leaders could show such sacrifice by making Advani PM.
Reddy claimed Rahul Gandhi exposed how BJP manipulated votes to gain power, which led to their attacks on Sonia. He asserted that even the Supreme Court acknowledged the Election Commission’s bias towards BJP, causing frustration among its leaders.
He argued that BJP had no part in India’s freedom struggle and questioned their understanding of inheritance and traditions. Reddy noted that the Gandhi family holds significant respect, and even Modi and Amit Shah’s parents would recognize their contributions.
Reddy criticized BJP leaders for lacking understanding and called them “fools,” noting Sonia Gandhi’s acceptance as an Indian woman who upheld national traditions. After Rajiv Gandhi’s death, Sonia lived privately for seven years before entering politics due to public demand. She led the Congress when requested but refused the PM position, as did Rahul. Instead, they supported Manmohan Singh as PM.
Reddy contrasted this with BJP’s approach to leadership and questioned their ability to discuss sacrifice genuinely. He argued that BJP’s current power is due to Advani and Vajpayee’s efforts, questioning their moral right to criticize Sonia.
