Hyderabad: The Telangana government plans to introduce a new ‘Telangana Nutrition Plan’ to deliver healthy food to Anganwadi centers.

Dhanasri Anusuya (Seethakka), the Women and Child Welfare Minister, stated that the government is dedicated to creating a nutritious Telangana. She urged everyone to contribute to building a strong and healthy state. She emphasized that this goal can only be achieved through teamwork. According to her, Telangana’s Anganwadi centers will become national models based on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s vision. These centers will be enhanced in line with the Telangana Rising-2047 strategy.

A state-level meeting focused on boosting Anganwadi services, enhancing children’s nutrition, and involving women’s self-help groups was held by the Telangana State Women and Child Welfare Department.

Participants included representatives from organizations like the National Institute of Nutrition (NIN), Indian Institute of Millet Research, CFTRI (Mysore), AIIMS, ICRISAT, UNICEF, and NGOs such as Pratham, Andhra Mahila Sabha, HARMAN, Bala Raksha Bharati, along with officials from various welfare departments and other related sectors. They shared insights and suggestions on improving nutrition.

After reviewing these contributions, Seethakka highlighted that Telangana is unique in offering 200 ml of Vijaya milk daily to Anganwadi beneficiaries, nutritious peanuts, cereal bars to teen girls, and egg biryani twice weekly. She mentioned an action plan for better nutrition in Telangana will be set up and executed based on expert input. Unlike BJP-ruled states where egg supplies to Anganwadis have stopped, Telangana has launched special initiatives to support children, pregnant women, nursing mothers, and young girls. The plan includes ensuring nutrition for all age groups with expert guidance.

She also discussed the introduction of mobile Anganwadis in areas lacking infrastructure, with organizations like NAAC and GEN NTU developing models.
