Gadwal: Heavy Rain Alert Across the State
Due to heavy rains across the state, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, and Chief Secretary to the State Government A. Shanti Kumari have urged all officials to stay alert and prepared.
On Sunday, they held a video conference with DGP Dr. Jitender and other senior officials to assess the situation. They discussed the flood-affected areas with district collectors, police commissioners, and SPs, asking them about the current status in each district and the relief efforts being carried out.
During the meeting, District Collector B.M. Santhosh issued several important instructions to local officials. He warned that heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over the next two days. As a result, he advised taking early precautions to avoid any loss of life or accidents. He also instructed that all necessary resources should be ready for quick relief operations.
The Collector emphasized the importance of continuous monitoring of the situation. He asked all officials to stay on the ground and remain vigilant until the rains stop. He also ordered strict measures to prevent people from going near ponds, lakes, and reservoirs for activities like fishing or swimming.
Additionally, the Collector stressed the need for all departments to work together effectively. He advised officials to stay on duty without taking any leave during this critical time. He also directed that traffic should be restricted on roads submerged by water, and alternative routes should be provided.
The Collector highlighted the importance of preventing breaches in ponds, tanks, and streams. Special attention should be given to ensure a safe drinking water supply and to monitor it for contamination. He also emphasized the need for special safety measures in low-lying areas, near culverts, and water bodies. Moreover, he stressed the importance of maintaining an uninterrupted power supply during the rains.
