Hyderabad – On Friday, the Telangana State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) carried out a live rescue demonstration at Hussain Sagar Boat Club. The event was supervised by Dr. Jitender, the Director General of Police (DGP) for Telangana.
Teams from the Telangana State Special Police (TGSP) displayed their skills in saving people from drowning and managing emergencies in water. These trained personnel are part of the newly formed SDRF, a unit designed to handle disasters like floods across the state.
The SDRF was officially launched during the Praja Palana Victory Day celebrations last December by the Chief Minister. This force combines members from multiple battalions, including those based in Yusufguda, Adilabad, Ibrahimpatnam, Warangal, Mulugu, Kothagudem, Nizamabad, Kondapur, Bachupally, Nalgonda, Mancherial, and Siricilla.
To prepare for operations, the SDRF teams received intensive training from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). The training lasted two months and took place in several cities: Cuttack (Odisha), Arakkonam (Tamil Nadu), Vadodara (Gujarat), Pune (Maharashtra), and Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh).
Top police officials attended the demonstration, including Additional DGP of Law and Order Mahesh M Bhagwat, Additional DGP of TGSP Sanjay Kumar Jain, and Commandant Muralikrishna from the Yusufguda Battalion.
The SDRF aims to respond swiftly and effectively to emergencies, especially during natural disasters, ensuring safety for people across Telangana.
