Hyderabad – The Telangana government is taking strong steps to boost the Information Technology and Communications (IT&C) sector. IT Minister D Sridhar Babu recently highlighted these efforts during a major partnership event held on Friday.
A new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) and NASSCOM’s IT-ITeS Sector Skills Council. This agreement aims to prepare students with digital skills that match industry needs.
The minister emphasized Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s commitment to ensuring that every graduate in Telangana gains practical, job-ready skills. He praised the joint efforts of TGCHE and NASSCOM in moving this vision forward.
One major initiative involves turning existing Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) into Advanced Training Centres (ATCs). These centers will focus on hands-on learning and help students secure jobs after training. The minister also shared his goal of making Hyderabad the skilled workforce capital of India.
He stressed the importance of connecting colleges with companies. According to him, students must learn skills that match real-world job demands. Internships and hands-on training will play a key role in this effort.
Dr Abhilasha Gaur, CEO of NASSCOM’s IT-ITeS Sector Skills Council, spoke about the organization’s role in shaping India’s IT industry. She shared upcoming plans to support skill development programs across the tech sector.
Prof V Balakista Reddy, Chairman of TGCHE, talked about major changes in curriculum across colleges. He said that all undergraduate students will now take courses in fields like Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Fintech, Digital Marketing, and Sustainable Sciences. These updates aim to make students more employable and future-ready.
As part of the deal, students will have access to micro-learning materials, foundation courses, and advanced-level digital skills training. A special offline course in Embedded Software Development and Testing will also be launched. Some courses will be free, while others may require a fee.
Over the next three years, NASSCOM plans to train 1 lakh students per year in Telangana through this partnership.
TGCHE will also push colleges and universities to support students in earning certifications that meet industry expectations. Upon successful completion, students will receive certificates as proof of their skills.
These certified students will be connected to job opportunities through NASSCOM’s Talent Connect, a platform designed to bridge the gap between learning and employment.
This collaboration marks a big step toward creating a strong tech talent pool in Telangana, setting an example for other states in India.
