Hyderabad: A special committee will soon be formed to help grow more horticulture crops in Telangana. This team will focus on making a new pilot project successful in three villages in the Yacharam mandal of Rangareddy district.
The decision to form this committee was made during a meeting led by Kodanda Reddy, Chairman of the Telangana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Commission. The committee will work under the Farmers’ Commission and include members from the Agriculture and Horticulture Departments, the Marketing Department, NABARD, NGOs, and one official from the Farmers’ Commission.
Three villages—Gaddamallaiah Gudem, Mondi Gourelli, and Chaudhary Guda—have been chosen for the pilot project. Officials explained that farmers in these areas already grow vegetables and leafy greens. Since there is not much rainfall and water in the Rangareddy district, the focus will be on crops that need less water.
