The Telangana government has decided to extend NVS Reddy’s term as the Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro for one more year. This decision was announced through an official order on Wednesday, April 9.
Recently, the state government had planned to remove many senior officers and employees who had already retired but were still working on contract. NVS Reddy was also among those expected to step down. However, the government chose to keep him in his position because of his deep knowledge and experience with the Metro project.
The Hyderabad Metro Rail is currently moving into its second phase, which is considered very important. Because of this, the government felt it was necessary to continue using Reddy’s expertise to guide the project forward.
The new Revanth Reddy-led government has big plans for the expansion of the Metro. The second phase will include metro connectivity to areas like the Old City, the Airport, Fourth City, and North City.
This phase is divided into two parts. Part A includes five corridors, and Part B includes three. The government had already sent the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the five corridors in Part A to the central government for approval five months ago. Once the approval comes through, the state is ready to begin construction immediately.
