Vijayawada Municipal Corporation corporator Kesineni Swetha, following in the footsteps of her father Kesineni Nani, has resigned from her post and also from the primary membership of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). She cited personal reasons for her decision. Swetha was the corporator of the 11th division of VMC.

She went to the VMC office with her followers, met Mayor Rayana Bhagya Lakshmi, and submitted her resignation letter. She also sent her resignation letter to TDP chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu. Swetha’s father, Kesineni Nani, announced his intention to quit TDP on Saturday after being asked to stay away from a public meeting addressed by Naidu in Tiruvuru.

Before resigning, Swetha sought advice from Vijayawada East MLA Gadde Rammohan. Rammohan asked her to reconsider her decision.

Swetha said, “We never wanted to leave TDP. But when the party doesn’t want you to continue, there is no meaning in staying.” She mentioned that she contested as a corporator despite knowing the potential troubles under YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s government.

Swetha added that her father would announce his future course of action after resigning from the party membership and consulting his followers. She also mentioned that her father endured ill-treatment by the party in the past year while remaining in TDP.

Swetha was a front-runner for the Mayor post of VMC as a TDP candidate. However, she was unable to secure enough seats due to sabotage by undisclosed factors.
