The Telangana Assembly will start a three-day session today, August 30, to focus on the Kaleshwaram Commission report. This report, approved recently by the state Cabinet, is over 600 pages long. Assembly members will review and discuss it thoroughly to decide on the next steps for the government.
Today, the assembly will honor Jubilee Hills MLA Maganti Gopinath and former MLC Magam Rangareddy, who have passed away. A Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting will follow to set the session’s agenda and schedule.
The assembly is likely to meet only on Thursday due to Milad-un-Nabi on Friday and Saturday, depending on police security.
After today’s session, the state Cabinet will meet at 1 PM in the committee hall, led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. They will discuss important issues such as increasing Backward Classes (BC) reservations and planning local body elections. A PAC ministerial committee has suggested three options: raising reservations with a special vote, implementing them through party lines, or addressing BC bills and ordinances legally.
