The Telangana Legislative Assembly will meet today for its second session, starting at 9 am. A major topic will be the Kaleshwaram project report. Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy will present findings from the PC Ghosh Commission on this controversial project. Assembly members will receive a detailed 665-page report from the Kaleshwaram inquiry.
Reddy will use a PowerPoint presentation to explain the report. The government aims to propose changes to the Panchayat Raj Act 285A and the Municipal Act. These changes focus on increasing reservations for Backward Classes (BC), which will be a topic of discussion in the House.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will attend the assembly from 9 am until 9:30 pm, then travel to Kerala from Begumpet Airport. He plans to return and join the session again at 3:40 pm.
Opposition leaders, including the Congress, are urging Opposition Leader KCR to join the debate on the Kaleshwaram report. Party MLAs have been informed, and BRS leaders KTR and Harish Rao have advised their MLAs about the discussion.
Harish Rao has filed a legal petition in the Telangana High Court to stop the report from being discussed in the assembly. He argues that Justice Ghosh’s report was released without letting involved parties respond. Rao wants the court to halt further action until the issue is resolved.
The High Court will review the petition on Monday. Whether KCR will participate in the Kaleshwaram report debate remains a key question in the assembly’s agenda.
