The Telangana Legislative Assembly has made a historic decision by unanimously passing a resolution urging the Central government to adopt the state’s comprehensive household survey. This survey aims to assess socio-economic conditions and address growing inequalities among different sections of society. The resolution was moved by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday after an extensive debate that underscored the importance of data in tackling disparities across communities.

The household survey is designed to collect detailed information on critical aspects such as caste, education, employment, and economic status. It has been praised as a groundbreaking initiative by the Telangana government. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy highlighted that this data would play a crucial role in formulating targeted policies to promote the welfare and development of marginalized communities, including Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), and Backward Classes (BCs).

“This survey is not just about numbers; it is about understanding the real socio-economic conditions of our people,” the Chief Minister stated. He emphasized that the information gathered would help craft policies aimed at achieving inclusive growth and ensuring social justice for disadvantaged sections of society.

By passing this resolution, Telangana has set a significant precedent for other states. The household survey is seen as a vital step toward reducing socio-economic disparities and fostering sustainable development. This initiative reflects a broader trend of using data-driven approaches to combat inequality and create policies tailored to the needs of the population.

With the Assembly’s full support behind the resolution, attention now turns to the Central government. Telangana hopes to inspire a nationwide adoption of similar measures to build a strong framework for addressing inequality and promoting inclusive growth across India.
