Hyderabad is buzzing with excitement as it hosts the 72nd Miss World pageant, drawing over 100 contestants from across the globe. This month-long event celebrates beauty, culture, and meaningful social work. The grand launch took place on May 10 at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, beginning with the Telangana State Anthem and a colorful display of local folk and tribal dances performed by more than 250 artists.
This year is special for India. For the first time in the pageant’s 73-year history, a country is hosting Miss World for two years in a row. After the previous edition in Mumbai, the spotlight now shifts to Hyderabad, highlighting the cultural richness of Telangana.
The contestants are set to begin their journey with a heritage walk through Charminar and Laad Bazaar on Tuesday. They’ll explore the charm of Hyderabad’s Old City, known for its history and bustling markets. The day ends with a grand welcome dinner and a live music show at the majestic Chowmahalla Palace, giving guests a taste of Deccan royal hospitality, shared M Kiranmayee, a senior official from the Information and Public Relations Department.
On May 14, the participants will split into two groups for different cultural tours. One group will head to Warangal Fort, the famous Thousand Pillar Temple, and Bhadrakali Temple. The other group will visit the stunning Ramappa Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and enjoy a traditional Perini dance performance.
The next day, May 15, Group 1 will visit the sacred Yadagirigutta Temple, while Group 2 will explore Pochampally, a village world-famous for its Ikat handlooms and craftsmanship.
On May 16, the contestants will travel to Pillalamarri, home to a massive banyan tree that’s hundreds of years old, and then visit the Experium Eco Park. These stops showcase Telangana’s green tourism and its dedication to preserving nature.
The action continues on May 17 with the thrilling Miss World Sports Finale at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in the morning. Later that day, the contestants will enjoy an immersive film experience at Ramoji Film City, one of the largest film studios on the planet.
On May 18, the schedule includes a visit to the Telangana Police Integrated Command and Control Centre (TGICCC). Here, participants will learn about the state’s advanced public safety system. In the evening, they’ll head to the State Secretariat for a stunning 3D projection mapping show, followed by the lively ‘Sunday-Funday’ carnival at Tank Bund, where they’ll experience Hyderabad’s vibrant street life and celebration.
