Hyderabad: The State BJP leadership honored former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on her fourth death anniversary on Tuesday.

Reddy mentioned that Sushma Swaraj held several key positions within the party, earning the respect and admiration of both party members and the general public.

He also recalled her participation in numerous party meetings across Telangana during the separatist movement, where she supported the cause. During this time, the then-Congress government in United Andhra Pradesh imposed restrictions and used police force against protestors during the ‘sakalajanula samme’ (general strike). People from all walks of life, including students, united and faced police action to raise their voices for Telangana.

Reddy emphasized that Sushma firmly supported the fight for Telangana and inspired confidence in the people. She spoke out in the Lok Sabha in support of Osmania University students and others fighting for the cause. Sushma also put pressure on the then UPA government, led by the Congress, to introduce the Bill on Telangana. The Bill ultimately received 160 favorable votes in the Lok Sabha, largely due to her efforts.

Reddy encouraged party members to recommit themselves to the ideals and cause of Telangana martyrs and Sushma for the development and realization of a democratic Telangana.
