Telangana RTC has raised the prices of bus passes, effective from Monday. This increase affects both regular and student passes, with rates going up by over 20 percent. For instance, the ordinary pass is now Rs 1,400, up from Rs 1,150.
The Metro Express Pass has climbed to Rs 1,600 from Rs 1,300. The Metro Deluxe Pass now costs Rs 1,800, previously priced at Rs 1,450. Prices for the Greater Hyderabad and Green Metro AC passes have also seen a rise. Additionally, Hyderabad Metro Rail fares have gone up recently.
Both employees and students are unhappy with these increased costs for bus passes and metro tickets.
The Telangana Government Service RTC (TGS RTC) faces calls to rethink the bus pass price hikes. There was notable backlash when Hyderabad Metro Rail ticket prices rose. In response, a 10 percent discount was announced on the new fares. However, L&T has caused confusion by not applying this discount consistently across all fare categories. Commuters have faced problems when buying tickets, with L&T attributing the issues to “retail problems,” sparking widespread discussion among passengers.
