Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has issued strict directives to municipal officials to ensure cleanliness across the three urban local bodies in Telangana’s core urban area. The Chief Minister warned that he would personally conduct field-level inspections on cleanliness matters and would not tolerate any litter found anywhere in the cities. He made it clear that officials will be held accountable for maintaining sanitation standards in their respective jurisdictions.
The Commissioners of Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Malkajgiri urban local bodies have been instructed to conduct field visits starting at 6 a.m. every morning. This directive aims to ensure that cleanliness drives are monitored from the ground level and that any lapses are immediately addressed. The early morning inspections are expected to set a new standard for municipal administration in the state.
The Chief Minister conducted a comprehensive review meeting on municipal administration and urban development departments at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar State Secretariat. During the meeting, he reviewed policies to increase revenue generation from advertisements within the limits of the three urban local bodies. He provided several suggestions on various issues related to urban infrastructure and revenue optimization.
CM Revanth Reddy proposed the installation of junction boxes and smart poles in the city and other areas. He suggested that electric cables, other cables, CCTV cameras, and advertisement boards should be installed on these structures. The Chief Minister also directed officials to study opportunities for setting up multi-level parking on private lands in several areas of the city and examine possibilities for such facilities along Necklace Road.
Expressing concern over advertisement revenue, the Chief Minister questioned officials about why expected revenue is not being realized despite the presence of various types of advertisement boards in large numbers. He directed them to benchmark the city’s advertisement revenue with that of Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Bengaluru. He stated that strict action should be taken against advertisers who are depriving the government of rightful revenue.
The Chief Minister suggested allocating 10 percent of advertisement boards for government programs and welfare schemes. Officials presented a PowerPoint presentation on generating revenue through Public-Private Partnership (PPP) and other models. After examining the presentation, CM Revanth Reddy provided several suggestions for implementation and revenue enhancement strategies.
Instructions were issued to follow the Unicode system in street light maintenance across all cities and towns in the state, along with the three urban local bodies. The Chief Minister suggested paying special attention to the development and maintenance of parks within the limits of these corporations. He emphasized the need for systematic approaches to urban infrastructure management.
CM Revanth Reddy instructed officials to organize a one-day training program for newly elected mayors, deputy mayors, chairpersons, and deputy chairpersons across the state.
