Telangana CM Appeals to PM for Railway Project Approvals

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to approve several pending railway projects in the state. He emphasized that these projects align with the Central Government’s vision of achieving a $5 trillion economy and would ensure the active participation of Telangana’s four crore citizens in this national goal.

The appeal came during a virtual inauguration event where the Prime Minister launched various railway projects across the country. Among these was the newly constructed Charlapalli Railway Terminal in Telangana. CM Revanth Reddy expressed gratitude for the terminal’s completion but highlighted the importance of addressing other key infrastructure needs in the state.

Key Projects Highlighted by the CM

    1. Kazipet Railway Coach Factory:
The Chief Minister reiterated the long-pending demand for the establishment of the Kazipet Railway Coach Factory. Despite being promised earlier, this project remains unimplemented.

    2. Regional Connectivity Proposals:
CM Reddy proposed a Regional Ring Rail along the Regional Ring Road, the extension of Metro Rail Phase-2, and a new railway line connecting Vikarabad in Telangana to Karnataka.

    3. Dedicated Infrastructure for Growth:
He suggested the construction of a greenfield highway and a special railway line from Hyderabad to Bandar Port. This would help boost industrial growth, improve dry port access, and enhance connectivity for Telangana’s pharmaceutical and automobile industries.

    4. Metro Rail Expansion:
The CM pointed out that Telangana, which once ranked second in the country for metro development, has now fallen to the ninth position due to lack of progress. He urged the approval of Metro Rail Phase-2 proposals to accelerate urban development in Hyderabad.

    5. Vikarabad-Karnataka Railway Line:
Revanth Reddy stressed the need for a railway line linking Telangana with Karnataka via Vikarabad to improve interstate connectivity.

    Importance of These Projects

Telangana plays a key role in India’s economy, contributing 35% of the nation’s pharmaceutical production. Improved transportation infrastructure is vital to streamline logistics for this sector. Additionally, the state is witnessing rising interest from automobile and electrical manufacturing industries, which require better connectivity to thrive.

The 370 km Regional Ring Road project, currently in the tendering phase, is expected to spur urbanization and attract investments once completed. These developments would significantly enhance Telangana’s growth and economic potential.

    Event Highlights

The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, Union Ministers Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, State IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, and Malkajgiri MP Etela Rajender, alongside representatives from other states.

CM Revanth Reddy concluded by emphasizing that Telangana’s development relies on swift approvals and cooperation from the Central Government for these critical projects.
