NagarKurnool:
In a meeting at the Collectorate conference hall on Tuesday, Telangana Food Commission Chairman Goli Srinivas Reddy warned that any disruption to food security rights would not be tolerated. He emphasized that strict action would be taken against violators. He also asked officials to conduct field visits, install complaint boxes, and closely monitor welfare schemes to ensure smooth implementation.
The Chairman was joined by Telangana Food Commission members, District Collector Badavath Santosh, and other officials. Together, they reviewed the National Food Security Act, 2013, focusing on important welfare programs like the Public Distribution System (PDS) and the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS).
During his inspections in Kalwakurthy and Veldanda mandals, the Chairman found that food distribution in Anganwadi centers and hostels was generally satisfactory. However, he noted some minor issues in a few welfare hostels and ordered the officials to fix them immediately.
District Collector Badavath Santosh assured that nutritious meals, as per the menu, would be provided in hostels. He also stressed the need to maintain the health and safety of children in these institutions.
Special focus was placed on the quality of midday meals in schools and welfare hostels. The Chairman instructed ration shops to display boards with dealer information, complaint boxes, and contact numbers to improve accountability. He also highlighted the importance of providing regular milk and egg supplies in Anganwadi centers and ensuring uninterrupted nutrition for child welfare programs.
The Chairman praised Collector Badavath Santosh for his dedication to food security and welfare services, noting that his efforts had positively impacted both the education and health sectors in the district.
Lastly, the Chairman urged all departments to coordinate their efforts for the efficient implementation of food security programs. He expressed hope that Nagar Kurnool could set a model for food security across Telangana.
