Telangana has secured a significant investment deal with McDonald’s, as Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy finalised a collaboration with the global fast-food giant. This partnership will bring McDonald’s Global Capability Centre (GCC) to Hyderabad, making it a key hub for the company’s operations in India. The move is expected to create thousands of jobs and boost the state’s reputation as a centre for talent development and business growth.
McDonald’s Chooses Hyderabad for Major Centre
During discussions with McDonald’s Chairman & CEO Chris Kempczinski and other top executives, an agreement was reached to make Hyderabad a crucial operational and training centre for McDonald’s India. The city was chosen over other locations like Bengaluru due to its skilled workforce, modern infrastructure, and high quality of life.
The new Global Office in Hyderabad will start with about 2,000 employees, strengthening Telangana’s position as an attractive destination for multinational companies. This partnership marks one of the largest investments in the state’s recent history.
State’s Skilling Programmes to Support Growth
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy emphasised that Telangana’s skilling initiatives, such as the Young India Skills University, will help train professionals for McDonald’s operations. This will not only support the company’s corporate and restaurant needs but also create more job opportunities for young professionals in the state.
Boost for Agriculture and Local Sourcing
As part of the agreement, McDonald’s has committed to sourcing agricultural produce from Telangana’s farmers. This decision will benefit the state’s agricultural sector by providing farmers with a steady market for their products. It will also strengthen McDonald’s supply chain and contribute to Telangana’s role in the national and global food industry.
Expansion of McDonald’s Outlets in Telangana
Currently, McDonald’s operates 38 outlets in Telangana. The company plans to expand by opening three to four new restaurants every year, including in smaller towns. This expansion will create more jobs and business opportunities across the state.
Additionally, McDonald’s CEO assured the Telangana government of the company’s commitment to community development initiatives. The company aims to enhance its corporate social responsibility efforts in partnership with local authorities.
The high-profile meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, IT Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, and CM’s Secretary Ajith Reddy. Their presence highlighted the state government’s active role in attracting multinational investments to Telangana.
