Hyderabad: Muslim religious and community leaders in Telangana have come together to strongly oppose the proposed Waqf Amendment Bill. This bill is currently being reviewed by a Joint Parliamentary Committee. The leaders, along with representatives from religious and social organizations, legal experts, clerics, journalists, and other prominent individuals, collectively decided to reject the bill during a meeting held at the Telangana Secretariat on Monday.
The meeting was organized by Mohammed Ali Shabbir, an advisor to the Telangana Government. During the gathering, the participants discussed various controversial parts of the Waqf Bill and how they might affect the Waqf institution. They argued that the bill isn’t just a simple amendment but seems like an attempt to completely replace the existing law.
The leaders voiced their concerns, calling the proposed amendment a conspiracy to dismantle Waqf institutions across India. They believe that if the amendment is passed, it could lead to the destruction of Waqf properties by altering their control, administration, and management.
