The Telangana government has unveiled plans to develop Green Field Townships as part of its ambitious 2047 Telangana Rising Vision, focusing on affordable housing and employment generation through a strategic approach.

The state government is preparing to allocate lands under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to construct affordable houses for citizens. This initiative aims to address the growing housing demand while ensuring cost-effective solutions for middle and lower-income groups.

A key feature of the township development plan involves creating employment opportunities within and around these new residential areas. The government intends to establish job centers near the townships to significantly reduce commuting time for residents traveling to their workplaces.

The flagship project under this vision is the Future City, which is expected to generate approximately one lakh (100,000) jobs. The development is projected to accommodate around 13 lakh (1.3 million) people who will reside in and around the Future City area.

The integrated approach of combining residential development with employment generation represents a shift from traditional housing projects. By creating job opportunities within the townships, the government aims to develop self-sustaining communities that reduce the burden on existing urban infrastructure.

The PPP model will enable the government to leverage private sector expertise and investment while maintaining oversight of the project’s affordable housing objectives. This collaboration is expected to accelerate the development process and ensure quality construction standards.

The Green Field Townships initiative forms a crucial component of the state’s long-term development strategy. The 2047 Telangana Rising Vision encompasses various sectors including infrastructure, industry, and urban development to position Telangana as a leading state by India’s centenary of independence.

The township projects are being designed to include essential amenities such as schools, healthcare facilities, shopping centers, and recreational spaces. This comprehensive planning aims to create complete living ecosystems rather than just residential clusters.

The success of these townships will depend on the synchronization between housing development and employment creation. The government’s focus on establishing industries and commercial centers alongside residential areas is intended to make these townships attractive for families seeking both livelihood and housing solutions.

The allocation of land parcels under the PPP framework is currently in the planning stages. The government is working on identifying suitable locations that offer connectivity to major highways and existing urban centers while providing scope for independent economic development.

The Future City project stands as the centerpiece of this vision, with its capacity to house 1.3 million residents and create 100,000 employment opportunities, making it one of the largest integrated township developments in the state’s history.
