In Telangana, a significant decision was taken during a Higher Education meeting about fee reimbursement. Now, students need at least 75% attendance in their degree programs to be eligible for this benefit.

Balkishta Reddy led the meeting, which included vice-chancellors from seven universities. They observed that although this attendance rule was set by earlier government orders, it wasn’t enforced properly. The vice-chancellors committed to applying this rule to enhance the quality of education. Additionally, they agreed to lower the credit requirement for a three-year degree from 150 to 142.

He called on the state government to clear these dues quickly to secure poor students’ futures and to prevent financial struggles that could lead to private colleges shutting down.
