The Telangana School Education Department has announced that all schools across the state will operate on a half-day schedule starting from March 15 to April 23, 2026. This directive applies to all government, government-aided, and private schools in the state. The new timings will be from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. until the last working day of the 2025-26 academic year.

According to the official order issued by the Director of School Education Department on Thursday, March 12, 2026, the half-day schedule has been implemented to help students cope with the rising temperatures during the summer months. All educational institutions under various management types must strictly adhere to these revised timings throughout the specified period.

The department has made special provisions for midday meal arrangements under this new schedule. The midday meals will be prepared at 12:30 p.m., ensuring that students receive their nutritious meals before leaving school premises. This timing adjustment ensures that the government’s midday meal scheme continues without disruption despite the shortened school hours.

Schools designated as examination centers for SSC examinations will follow a different schedule on exam days. These schools will operate from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. specifically on days when examinations are being conducted. On non-examination days, these centers will revert to the standard half-day timing of 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Additionally, special classes for tenth standard students will continue as scheduled to ensure proper examination preparation.
